Guidelines for Dutchess County

Program Details
The Dyson Foundation will consider requests for project support from 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organizations located in Dutchess County for:
  • human services, particularly food programs, shelter, and housing services,
  • health access, advocacy, or services,
  • and community and economic development.
We are especially interested in supporting organizations and/or projects that focus on:
  • economically disadvantaged children and youth,
  • improving the community's health care services,
  • strengthening safety net services,
  • strengthening the infrastructure of the nonprofit sector,
  • and increasing philanthropy and charitable giving in the region.

The Foundation will consider multi-year awards as well as challenge grants. We make limited funding available to Dutchess County public or independent schools (find guidelines here), and in certain circumstances, we will also consider funding to faith-based organizations (find guidelines here).

We will consider limited funding to arts organizations or projects that provide managment support or training to other arts organizations, and to organizations or projects that can demonstrate the potential to increase local tourism and employment and/or other local economic development as a result of their efforts.

The Foundation is not currently considering funding to environmental organizations, historic sites, historic preservation organizations, or for capital campaigns.  These organizations may still be eligible for Management Assistance Program and Nonprofit Strategic Restructuring Initiative grants.
